Classical Professional Ballet Tutus

We have been trained in the techniques required to construct classical (Pancake) and Romantic tutus. We have worked for such companies as The Carolina Ballet (Raleigh, NC), Raleigh Dance Theatre, The Washington Ballet (Washington, DC) among others.

Custom Built Tutus

A Perfomance tutu is a labor intensive costume that produces a dress able to enhance a dancer's performance and not hinder their movements.

Our tutus are made from diamond net pleated onto a cotton bobbinette panty with a stiffened Basque around the dancer's waist. Tutus are held closed by strong hooks applied in an alternating pattern to prevent accidental opening.

Our bodice is made with a cotton satin lining for stability and comfort, spiral steel bones for strength, and fashion fabric as desired by the customer. All trimmings are securely sewn down, not glued.

The bodices attach to the tutu Basque by way of buttonhole elastic, allowing the bodice to be easily removed for cleaning while being secure for performance. The top edge of our bodices is corded so that it can be tied "snug" at the back of the bodice. The side seams are made with 1" seam allowance to allow for adjustablity from one performer to the next if necessary.

Single Color Tutu (NO HOOP, gun-tacked): $250.00

Add Hooping: Add $25.00

Hand tacking: Add $25.00

Color combinations (variegated, glimmer net, etc) : Add $15.00

Plate work: $20/hour PLUS the cost of the trims (trimming can take anywhere from 1-10 hours depending on the design)

Custom made Bodices:

10 panel Bodice, boned with spiral steel: $125.00

With Nude inset: Add $20.00

Corded seams: Add $20.00

Coordinating Arm poofs: $20.00

Trimming charged at $20/hour PLUS the cost of trims.
